The moment you have all been waiting for is on again.
Now all you have to do is book a ticket. For those new to the BDAS (Bowral & District Art Society) we are referring to The Celebrity Portrait Reveal 2025.
This is a great day out and our annual gala fund-raiser.
All money raised goes back to the Bowral Art Gallery. The event is held at Centennial Vineyards Restaurant, so you know the food will be great, the venue gorgeous and there is a terrific line up of special guests.
For 2025 we are fortunate to have stand-up comedian Lawrence Mooney. Our highly respected portrait artists chosen to paint Lawrence are Dave Thomas, Kate Vella, Noel Thurgate and Oliver Watts. What a fabulous line up.
To kick start the day we Zero Central Circus with amazing arial performances and stilt walkers in the beautiful courtyard whilst being served canapes and drinks on arrival. There will be a host of wonderful items for the silent auction which will be open for bidding. Following the lunch service, the completed portraits are displayed and guests are encouraged to select The People’s Pick. Lawrence will have a chance to chat about the works and will have the opportunity to select his favourite one to keep.

Painting Day with Lawrence and artists
A sneak peek into our painting day at Bowral Art Gallery studios with celebrity sitter Lawrence Mooney and our four highly respected artists, Noel Thurgate, Kate Vella, Oliver Watts and Dave Thomas. If the preliminary works produced on the day are anything to go by...we are in for a treat. The contrast in their styles and approaches to painting is very exciting and all so different. We can't wait to see their finished portraits of Lawrence.

Celebrity Portrait Reveal 2024
...a big success!
The annual Celebrity Portrait Reveal is one of the highlights in the BDAS calendar and this year, our 14th, was no exception. It was a fabulous sell out event at the stunning Centennial Vineyards Restaurant for our special guests and attendees who were asked to wear a "touch of green".
We were very fortunate to secure Costa Georgiadis as our celebrity.
Costa was vibrant, enthusiastic and very charming, just like he appears on television. He teamed up with BDAS patron, Ben Quilty and together they had the guests engaged and entertained.
Four well known artists, Kate Stevens, Jody Graham, Evan Shipard and Justin Pearson were invited to paint and draw Costa. They met with Costa at a painting day at the BDAS studios on the 21st July. These portraits were then revealed in front of all the guests who were invited to vote for their favourite portrait. After much deliberating Costa chose Kate Stevens' portrait to take home. Costa was visibly humbled by the experience.
Another highlight of the day was the Fine Art Auction conducted by auctioneer, Justin Miller. On offer were works by John Olsen, Robert Dickerson, Ben Quilty, Clara Adolphs, Elaine Musgrave, Sonja Bowden, Glen Preece and Cherry Hood. Many thanks to all the artists and owners for donating these amazing works.
Many thanks to all our wonderful donors to our Silent Auction. Guests had a range of wonderful items to bid on and all the money raised from the event goes towards maintaining the facilities at the BDAS.

Sitting Day with Costa
A look into our painting day at BDAS studio with our celebrity sitter Costa Georgiardis and respected artists Evan Shipard, Kate Stevens, Jody Graham and Justin Pearson.
What a fabulous line up and such a treat to see these talented artists capturing Costa, such force of energy and enthusiasm. Each one as individual and expressive as the next.
