ALUMINIUM ETCHING WORKSHOP
with Annie Day
Etching with copper sulphate – the safer alternativeThis intaglio process results from the action of an etchant – copper sulphate - on the aluminium plate. The image
can be drawn through a resistant ground on the surface of the plate. We will use safe resists and grounds to
achieve our prints. One feature of this method is the beautiful rich aquatints which are created without resorting to
resin. Prepare to be surprised with your results!.

PHOTOPOLYMER ETCHING WORKSHOP
with Annie Day
Create intaglio and relief plates in the sun.During our workshop we will create plates using the UV rays of the sun to transfer the image to the plate. The photopolymer plates are easily washed with tap water to reveal the etched surface.
Photopolymer plate is composed of thin steel backing with a surface coating of light sensitive photopolymer. UV light
hardens the areas not blocked out by carbon (the artwork) and these unexposed areas wash out with tap water. The
plate is particularly durable and it is possible to make large editions from this plate.
WHEN: Thurs 15th & Fri 16th July 2010
TIME: 10am - 4pm
COST: $160 BDAS Members, $170 Non Members (Includes $10 Casual Membership), $20 Photopolymer plate.

WATERLESS LITHOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
with Annie Day
The safer alternative to traditional lithography. The technique enables the artist to create a lithographic image in a swift and effortless manner. The procedure uses recycled aluminium offset plates and a silicone mixture to repel the ink instead of water as in the traditional method. The plates are "rolled up" with relief ink and printed on an etching press. The process is far less toxic to the printmaker than traditional lithography..
WHEN: Sat 24th & Sun 25th July 2010
TIME: 10am - 4pm
COST: $160 BDAS Members, $170 Non Members (Includes $10 Casual Membership)
